IBJA does not publish Saturday rates. This 3 October weekend guide uses the latest 1 October PM benchmark and converts it into transparent 1g, 8g and 10g references for 24K, 22K and 18K.

Saturday means no new IBJA opening or closing rate

3 October 2026 was a Saturday, and IBJA’s published policy says it does not publish rates on Saturdays or Sundays. The latest available domestic benchmark was therefore the 1 October PM rate because 2 October was also a commodity-exchange holiday for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.

This article deliberately does not invent a “3 October IBJA rate.” Instead, it converts the latest official 10-gram benchmark into common weights so buyers can understand the reference clearly while preserving the original date.

Latest benchmark converted to common weights

IBJA’s 1 October PM table shows 999 gold at ₹148,138 per 10g, 916 at ₹135,694 and 750 at ₹111,104. Dividing and multiplying those figures gives the following metal-only references:

Purity / fineness1 gram8 grams10 grams
24K / 999₹14,813.80₹118,510.40₹148,138
22K / 916₹13,569.40₹108,555.20₹135,694
18K / 750₹11,110.40₹88,883.20₹111,104

These are mathematical conversions of the 1 October PM benchmark, not new Saturday prices. IBJA also notes that its gold rates are without 3% GST and making charges.

Why the 8-gram number can be useful

Eight grams is a familiar comparison weight in Indian gold shopping, but an 8g jewellery item is not automatically eight grams of pure or net gold. Stones, clasps and other components can affect gross weight. Purity also changes the gold content.

For a 22K piece, use a 916 reference and ask the jeweller for the net gold weight. For an 18K piece, use the 750 reference. Comparing an 18K item with a 24K/999 headline rate creates a misleading result even when the total weight is the same.

Weekend reference versus a retailer’s live quote

A jeweller can update a shop rate during the weekend based on international bullion, currency movements, inventory policy or local business conditions. That retail rate can be useful for an actual purchase, but it is not identical to an IBJA benchmark published on a working day.

When recording a quote, write down four things together: purity, unit, rate and timestamp. That simple habit prevents a common mistake where one shop’s Saturday quote is compared with another shop’s Thursday benchmark as though both were published at the same time.

Hallmark and HUID still matter more than the headline rate

BIS explains that hallmarking is the official recording of precious-metal purity. Current gold jewellery hallmarks include the BIS logo, purity in caratage and fineness, and a six-digit alphanumeric HUID. BIS also permits jewellery grades including 22K/916 and 18K/750.

The HUID can be verified in the BIS Care app. A buyer should also take an authentic invoice and make sure the purity stated on the bill matches the mark on the article.

Add the retail charges after the metal reference

The table above only estimates the metal reference. A finished jewellery invoice may include making/design charges, stone value or other components. CBIC’s official jewellery FAQ says GST is payable at 3% of the total transaction value, whether making charges are shown separately or not.

Therefore, a fair comparison between two shops should use the same purity and net weight, then compare making charges and the final tax-inclusive total.

A practical weekend comparison method

  1. Start with the latest dated IBJA reference.
  2. Convert it to the exact weight you need.
  3. Match 999, 916 or 750 to the item’s actual purity.
  4. Use net gold weight rather than gross decorated weight where appropriate.
  5. Add the jeweller’s making/design charges and other billable components.
  6. Check GST on the complete transaction value.
  7. Verify the hallmark/HUID and keep the invoice.

This method keeps the benchmark calculation transparent without pretending that a closed-day reference is a live Saturday retail price.

FAQ

Was there a new IBJA gold rate on Saturday, 3 October 2026?

No. IBJA states that it does not publish opening and closing rates on Saturdays and Sundays.

What was the latest 22K/916 reference for the weekend?

The latest available 1 October PM benchmark for 916 gold was ₹135,694 per 10 grams, equivalent to ₹13,569.40 per gram before GST and making charges.

Is an 8g jewellery item always priced as eight grams of gold?

Not necessarily. Ask for net gold weight and check whether stones or non-gold parts are included in gross weight. Purity must also be matched to the correct benchmark.
